My Onliness

is going to the

Sibiu International Theatre Festival 2025

June 20 & 21

“This dark, frenetic fable (is) pleasingly peculiar… Occasionally delicate, it’s more often chaotic, and gleefully so… Just take in the voluptuous strangeness of it all. For theater lovers ravenous for the downtown-peculiar, “My Onliness” is savory sustenance. A welcome gust of weird.``

“A delightful throwback to the golden age of off-off-Broadway… shows like My Onliness are as rare as unicorns — and just as magical to behold… unfailingly entertaining… completely accessible to Deaf audiences… you won't want to miss these 80 minutes of unbridled insanity. My Onliness is the kind of show that converts casual theatergoers into true believers in off-off-Broadway.”

“A hallucinatory nursery rhyme for adults… one long wheeeee from its rollercoaster start to its sudden, operatic finish… No one could resist such a king, particularly because he’s played by the Rabelaisian director Daniel Irizarry, a capering theatrical creature… we’re all too busy laughing and doing shots to take responsibility… Meaning, which seemed so elusive, is actually everywhere. Whether you understand it or not, whether you sense it or not, the air is thick with communication. Are you sure that the universe isn’t speaking?”

Presented in

American Sign Language & English,

My Onliness is a

fable / cabaret / circus

about a Mad King’s desperate attempt

to impress a mysterious petitioner.

(The poor Writer

is simply collateral damage.)

Is this a glimpse

of our dystopian future?

Or just the structure

of human consciousness?

This is sexy, visceral, dark buffoonery reimagined as The New Absurd; a homage to Stanislaw Witkacy and his theories of “pure theatre”.

Laced with songs of torture, truth, and tenderness; with fully integrated American Sign Language performed by two Deaf “Mediums” of the royal court.
